Ziggy

8/02/03

If you look close at the picture above you can see 2 white spots near the top. I realized later those were spider webs. We went out early that day and everything was still wet. I didn't notice them until after I looked at the picture. I have it shrunk down for size for this page but the original is very big and you can see the circular rings better. I did notice another big spider web on the other side of the yard that had a spider in the middle. It was high off the ground, Ziggy walked right under it to get to where he wanted to go, but I stopped in front of the big web.. But I was lucky because just then a flying insect came along, flew by, and grabbed the spider out and flew away with it! So I was able to get to my Ziggy after all...

He just wanted to go under that big pine tree and watch the chipmonk (or squirrel) again! It makes noise and moves around a lot in the branches, but its very quick, and small.

I keep a little piece of cardboard between the door and the attic room during the day to prevent the door from fully closing. Can't open it all the way because there is not air conditioner out there. He goes in and out frequently throughout the day. He usually comes in to get a drink or use the litter box. He makes a noise by the door and I let him in (or out) - he did get in once by himself by pushing the door open. Here, he is trying to go out, harder, because you have to pull the door open. He can probably do it if he wanted but I haven't seen him yet because I always open it for him

"Please open door for me."

No bandage in picture above because I just got finished removing old one and didn't put on new one and he wanted to go out. The fur in the "bare" spots around his bandage is starting to grow back in again and isn't so bare anymore.

Notes on Ziggy:

Ziggy is doing great. He is just about like his old self. He sleeps most of the time inside, but sometimes he wakes up to play or come see what I'm doing and jump on my lap. Every morning he goes outside for a while.

We are having a few thunderstorms every week, and he gets very nervous over the thunder, runs from room to room trying to find a hiding place. He seems so jumpy and stressed over thunder. He doesn't go under the bed anymore, he usually ends up in the closet. If we can hear the thunder then I give him a pain pill which I believe is also sedating. Over the past few weeks this happened maybe 4 times.. Otherwise, he has been off the torbutrol entirely. But I still have a quantity left of it since I got the refill just in case he needs it in the future.

Ziggy had a wonderful time outside today and spent some time in his play area hopping around and scratching his claws several times.

Another slide show of Ziggy and his play area outside!

Look at this funny one... didn't realize he must have been yawning and scratching at the same time!

Later on today it rained hard and thundered outside, and Ziggy is still under the bed, he didn't want in the closet this time although he went in and out several times but finally decided to go under the bed instead. He did have a pill but sometimes I think by the time it takes effect the thunder is over! But then he gets a good rest afterwards. But sometimes it can storm for a long time, today it didn't last too long. I petted him and talked to him while he was under the bed. Even though it stopped storming he is still under there, sleeping!
